Cheap Campus Eats

This post goes out to all my fellow Unimelb colleagues. What happened to our food halls? After covid on campus cafes and food vendors became completely non existent. While this did allow me to have a city adventure, often I was left lunchless in between long practical classes and lectures.

Not to fear, I have collated a variety of top affordable campus destinations that are amazing pick ups:

  • Castros:

    • EAT THEIR BOREKS! At a whopping $5.50, this thin, yet filling roll of bread with lamb sandwiched in the centre is truly a winter warmer! If you’re looking for a quick eat this wrap is one of the best picks! I almost forgot to mention that they’re hot chocolate range is insane! From Caramello to Cherry Ripe Castros has a unique range to offer.

  • HoHo’s Canteen:

    • Honestly you can’t go wrong with this. Any sandwich is sublime, but my favourite is the schnitzel! They also have a large drinks selection, various types of juices and sodas!

  • Carte Crepes:

    • This elusive hole in the wall is to die for! It provides the opportunity to eat a dessert for lunch. All jokes aside, their salted caramel crepes or even lime and sugar are all options that must be tried in your university experience!

  • Southbank: Betwixt

    • Ever been to visit a bachelor of fine arts or VCA student? Betwixt, located on the Southbank campus is an amazing choice. Their contemporary Japanese cuisine is phenomenal with poached, onsen eggs and warm curries.
